SUPPORT FOR
PARENTS
OF
PSYCHOSIS
SUFFERERS
Based in British Columbia, Canada, PSPOPS is committed to
providing support in the form of information and encouragement to parents who have discovered that their child is
suffering from early psychosis.
We are parents who have been, or still are, in the same position of dealing with this
terrible illness. As such our focus is on helping other parents, using knowledge and
eperiences gained from our own particular circumstances, and from our own perspective.
Through our support group discussions, we have learned that there are many common
aspects to cases of "psychosis", however each case is individual and there is no single answer to
address all situations.
While our focus is on supporting parents, other family members who are involved with the
care and recovery process are not excluded from our hearts. In fact every person involved
in any aspect of psychosis is welcome to review and learn from our experiences.
Because of the personal nature of psychosis and respecting privacy issues, stories,
experiences, lessons learned etc., which are included on this web site do not include
real names. ALL content is however validated prior to being added.
It is important to note that this site can provide suggestions, and limited guidance
based upon our experiences. We are NOT medical professionals, and do not provide
medical advice. We will support you in any way we can, but we do not have the resources
or medical training to become personally involved beyond the limits of this site. Any site
content beyond personal experience issues will be qualified by competent authorities.
We will try to answer questions through our FAQ's section.
What we don't do is offer a diagnosis or medical advice, we leave that up to the experts.
|
What we do offer is expert guidance from real people intimately involved with this illness.
